Target—
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
07 2008

A Lucasfilm-by-way-of-Target project, this microsite promoted the Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie and merchandise. Buyers of select action figures and toys input codes that had been printed on their boxes to effectively “join” the army and unlock, once certain numbers had been reached, exclusive content such as posters, coupons, and character bios.

While a bit removed from my typical aesthetic, it was an interesting case study in cross-pollinating two distinct brands, and I’m quite fond of the result in that regard. The Star Wars symbology paired rather nicely with Target’s typical method of incorporating outside brands, and Target’s brand colors and polished, glossy ornamental elements meshed well with the retro-futuristic Clone Wars style.
